You are not only talking about the death of a loved one but also about how that person lived their lives. Death is not an easy subject for anyone to discuss or cope with.
Grief is much easier to deal with when you have a faith filled hope that a deceased loved one is connected to God and you in a relationship that may have changed, but has not ended. Services are really about love. It will detail whether the deceased was married, had children and who survives them.
Your eulogy can then be written on behalf of that group of the mourners, and feature just their recollections and feelings about the deceased. Just like when our loved ones are at home with us and spend time in our living room. Eulogies are meant to convey the reasons the deceased will be missed and how much he was loved.
Be sure, though, not to include anything that may offend or embarrass. No one will be timing you, with a stopwatch, so take your time.
